Taiwo Awoniyi has been called up to replace injured Victor Osimhen in Nigeria's squad for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Madagascar and Guinea Bissau. Awoniyi now provides Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle with another experienced option in attack as Nigeria begin their Group L campaign. The Super Eagles announced Awoniyi's inclusion on Sunday through their official X account, welcoming the striker back to the national team. Osimhen was ruled out of the two qualifiers after his recovery from a muscle injury took longer than expected.
