Anambra police arrest woman over alleged self-kidnap

The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 22-year-old woman, Nwachukwu Chidubem Blessing, over alleged conspiracy, fraud, and self-kidnapping. She was apprehended by the Rapid Response Squad in Awkuzu following intelligence gathered during an investigation into her reported abduction. According to the state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, the woman was reportedly abducted along the Onitsha–Asaba Expressway on August 29, 2026, and her family paid N3 million in ransom. Preliminary findings indicate that she allegedly conspired with a female associate, and she was recovered in Asaba, Delta State, on September 18.
