Crisis Looms As NDC OK Movement Rejects Party Control

A crisis is brewing within the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) due to a disagreement between the party leadership and the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement (OK Movement) over the movement's authority to organise and mobilise support for the party's candidates ahead of the 2027 general election. The dispute intensified after the OK Movement rejected the NDC National Chairman Senator Cleopas Moses's position on a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) unveiled by the support group. The NDC had dissociated itself from the council, stating that only the party leadership can constitute and announce campaign structures. The OK Movement responded on Sunday, asserting that it remains an independent political movement with its own leadership and organisational structure.
