Governor Usman Ododo of Kogi State has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former governor Ibrahim Idris, describing the loss as profound for both the state and Nigeria. A statement from the Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, announced that a three-day mourning period has been declared in Idris's honour. During this period, national and state flags will be flown at half-mast across government offices and designated public institutions. Governor Ododo had earlier visited the residence of the late Idris to commiserate with the family, and he sent a condolence letter praising the former governor as an eminent son who devoted much of his life to service.
