The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed as "wishful thinking" a claim by the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) that its presidential candidate, Peter Obi, will defeat President Bola Tinubu by a wider margin in Lagos in the 2027 election. Lagos APC spokesman Seye Oladejo reacted to comments attributed to NDC National Publicity Secretary Osa Director, who reportedly challenged the APC to "take that to the bank" that Obi would repeat and widen his 2023 victory in the state. Oladejo acknowledged Obi's victory in Lagos in the 2023 presidential election but argued that the result should not be treated as a permanent political advantage. He noted that INEC's figures show Obi polled 582,454 votes against Tinubu's 572,606, a difference of 9,848 votes.
