37 miners’ deaths: NSCDC parades suspended commandant, officers

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has arrested and detained 24 personnel in connection with the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in Niger State. The suspended Niger State Commandant, Commandant Subaru Siyaka Aniviye, and 23 other officers were paraded at the Corps Headquarters in Abuja. The Corps ordered the service flag to fly at half-mast across all commands and formations for three days. Commandant General Professor Ahmed Abubakar Audi said due process, transparency and accountability will be followed, and every personnel found culpable will face disciplinary measures and the law.
