A former Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Sani Lawan Kofar Mata, has died at the age of 70. He passed away in Kano on Sunday after a period of ill health. His funeral prayer is scheduled for Monday at 9:00 a.m. in Kano. Kofar Mata was a prominent figure in Kano politics and an associate of former Governor Ibrahim Shekarau, playing a key role in Shekarau's political structure during the 2007 governorship election.
