Gallant Falconets Bow out of U20 Women’s World Cup

Nigeria's U20 women's team, the Falconets, exited the 2026 FIFA U20 Women's World Cup in Poland after a 1-0 quarter-final loss to Colombia in Łódź. A stoppage-time goal by Valerin Loboa secured Colombia's victory. Despite dominating set-pieces and creating chances through Janet Akekoromowei, Favour Nkwocha, Tosin Rafiu, and Onyedikachi Ekezie, Nigeria could not find the net. Akekoromowei hit the crossbar in the 19th minute, and Tumininu Adeshina forced a save from goalkeeper Luisa Agudelo in the 38th minute.
