Kogi State Governor Usman Ododo has expressed deep sorrow over the death of former governor Ibrahim Idris, describing his passing as a profound loss to Kogi State and Nigeria. The announcement was contained in a press statement by the Kogi State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Kingsley Fanwo, in Lokoja. Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan also mourned Idris, describing his death as a major loss to the state and the PDP. The family announced that Idris, who served as governor from 2003 to 2012, died in London, United Kingdom, on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at the age of 77, and a three-day mourning period was declared.
