The Federal Government has begun efforts to resolve approximately ₦330.08 billion in outstanding Export Expansion Grant (EEG) obligations. Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole, announced the move at a stakeholder engagement in Abuja, stating that the scheme will be restructured for predictability, transparency, and financial sustainability. The outstanding obligations include about ₦269.45 billion in verified claims from 195 companies approved under a Promissory Note Programme in May 2023, and roughly ₦60.64 billion in stepped-down claims from 32 companies for 2017–2020. Additionally, 40% of the export levy has been ring-fenced for new trade facilitation.
