Kwara Launches Statewide Artificial Insemination of Cattle, Committed to Improved Breeds, Higher Productivity

The Kwara State Government has launched a statewide artificial insemination programme for cattle to improve local breeding and enhance milk and dairy production. The project is being implemented in partnership with Genex URUS American International Animal Company. Commissioner for Livestock Development, Hon. Oloruntoyosi Thomas, flagged off the exercise in Ilorin, stating that it will cover thousands of cattle, with an initial 500 cattle in September. Plans are underway to establish an insemination center in Malete and replicate it in other communities to improve farmers' access to the intervention.
