The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has opposed plans to concession the management of King's College, Lagos, to the school's alumni association. In a statement signed by President Joe Ajaero, the NLC warned that the move could set a precedent for the concession of other Federal Unity Colleges. The labour centre acknowledged that the King's College Old Boys Association was motivated by concerns over the institution's declining state but argued that transferring management to the alumni could have wider implications. The NLC also noted that years of inadequate funding, neglect, corruption, and deteriorating infrastructure had reduced the school's standards.
