Tinubu misses UNGA for third time

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will not attend the 81st Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, marking his third consecutive absence from the annual event since taking office in 2023. Nigeria's Permanent Representative to the UN, Jimoh Ibrahim, had earlier stated that Tinubu would attend and that arrangements were made for him to sit near US President Donald Trump. However, a statement on Sunday by Stanley Nkwocha, spokesman to the Vice President, announced that Tinubu has directed Vice President Kashim Shettima to lead Nigeria's delegation to the event.
