The Yobe State Government has stepped up preparations to begin Hajj airlift operations from the Muhammadu Buhari International Cargo Airport in Damaturu in 2027. A high-level meeting chaired by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Goje Mohammed, reviewed the airport's operational status and identified outstanding technical, security and regulatory requirements. The meeting brought together relevant ministries, departments and agencies, airport management, contractors and security stakeholders. The government said the aim was to establish a coordinated pathway towards commencing the airlift from the facility.
