The Chairman of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission, Chiedu Ebie, has called for stronger partnerships among the commission, state governments and other stakeholders to accelerate development in the region. He spoke at the 2026 Niger Delta Economic and Investment Summit in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. Ebie said the commission could not fulfil its mandate without contributions from partners and the region's state governments. At the same summit, Access Holdings and Coronation Group chairman Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede said the Niger Delta had received about $160 billion in federal allocations and development funding over 27 years, yet poverty and underdevelopment persisted.
