The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has suspended more personnel in connection with the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners in Niger State. The personnel were paraded as Niger State Governor Umaru Bago appealed to the Federal Government for an executive order to ban mining activities in areas of the state he described as problematic. The NSCDC had earlier arrested and paraded 24 personnel, including the state commandant, over the incident.
