Professor Ima Usen Emmanuel of the University of Uyo advocated for stronger cultural dialogue, reciprocity, and reconciliation between Africans and diasporan Africans. He said such renewed ties would address the rising menace of Afro-phobia threatening peace and development on the continent. The professor noted that centuries of separation had widened the gulf of African bonds and brotherhood. He made the advocacy while delivering the 141st inaugural lecture of the institution titled "Circles and Circles of Relationship: Africans and African-Americans" at the TETfund Auditorium in Uyo.
