The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has suspended three more personnel and ordered three days of half-mast to mourn the alleged illegal miners who died in its Niger State custody. The NSCDC spokesperson, Babawale Afolabi, announced the measures on Sunday in Abuja. Initially, 21 officers were suspended and summoned to headquarters following the deaths of no fewer than 30 suspects. The NSCDC Commandant General, Ahmed Audi, directed the actions as a demonstration of institutional remorse and to purge the system of bad eggs.
