A major political shift occurred in Ogun State on Sunday as the former state Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Sikirullahi Ogundele, led several prominent party members to defect to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) from Ogun West Senatorial District. Other notable defectors included former state Publicity Secretary Akinloye Bankole, former PDP Youth Leader Oyejide Sukanmi, and State Women Leader Kemi Adeyemi. The defectors were received into the APC by Governor Dapo Abiodun, the APC governorship candidate for the state, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, and state party Chairman Chief Yemi Sanusi at a grand reception in Ilaro, headquarters of Yewa South Local Government Area. The reasons for their defection were explained during the event.
