Zamfara raises health workers’ salaries by 95%

The Zamfara State Government has approved a 95 per cent increase in the salaries of health workers across the state. The new salary structure took effect from September 7, 2026, and is benchmarked against the Federal Government's approved health-sector salary structures, particularly the Consolidated Health Salary Structure (CONHESS). The Head of Civil Service, Shehu Baraya, disclosed this in a circular dated September 10, 2026, with reference number HS/Z/001/54/VOL.II, addressed to the Secretary to the State Government, commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, heads of extra-ministerial departments, boards, commissions and parastatals, among others. According to the circular, the salary review is part of reforms by the administration of Governor Dauda Lawal to reposition the health sector and improve the welfare and working conditions of health personnel.
