Human rights lawyer Deji Adeyanju has called for the identification and prosecution of mine owners rather than workers in the wake of miners' deaths in Niger State. He argued that there are no illegal miners in Nigeria because the Ministry of Mines has mapped out almost all mining sites and issued certificates to owners. Adeyanju's comments come amid investigations into the deaths of 37 suspected illegal miners.
