Vice-President Kashim Shettima has stated that Nigeria's engagements at the 81st United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York will be guided by national interest, commitment to multilateralism, and President Bola Tinubu's advocacy for reforms of global institutions. Speaking on arrival in New York on Monday morning to represent President Tinubu, Shettima emphasized that Nigeria believes in multilateralism but that global institutions must become more representative, equitable, and responsive to today's realities. He said Nigeria will engage partners firmly from the standpoint of its national interest while advancing calls for a global system that gives developing countries a stronger voice and fairer opportunities.
