The Lagos State Government has issued a warning to residents about the increasing presence of sophisticated adulterated palm oil in markets across the state. The alert was issued through the Lagos State Consumer Protection Agency following a technical presentation at the Lagos State Food Safety Conference and Exhibition 2026. Dr Nurah Oseni, a Senior Lecturer at Auchi Polytechnic, explained that palm oil is vulnerable to adulteration due to factors such as high trading volume, consumer preference for deep-red colour, price differences, and informal market practices. The government has intensified market surveillance and urged consumers to report suspected cases.
