ADC demands investigation into political violence ahead of 2027 elections

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for an investigation into alleged attacks on opposition parties, political intimidation, and threats to citizens ahead of the 2027 general elections. At a news conference in Abuja on Monday, National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi presented documented incidents of alleged political violence against the party across several states. Abdullahi emphasized that Nigerians have the right to support any political party and that registered parties should be able to organize lawful activities without intimidation. He said the government must protect these rights and the police must enforce the law impartially. The party's memorandum examined incidents reported between July 2025 and September 2026 in Kaduna, Kebbi, Ekiti, Cross River, Rivers, Edo, Osun, Kogi, and Enugu states.
