The Bauchi State Police Command has announced the arrest of more than 47 armed people around polling units in Disina during a state House of Assembly bye-election. The suspects claimed to be members of state-owned security outfits, and firearms and other dangerous weapons were recovered from them. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu condemned what he described as a blatant disregard for lawful directives and an attempt to undermine the electoral process. He directed that the suspects be transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi for investigation and prosecution. Separately, the state government demanded the immediate release of three persons arrested by security operatives during the Zaki and Disina constituency bye-elections.
