Technology and media expert Job Mwadkon Dachungyang has warned that AI-powered disinformation, deepfakes, and coordinated online propaganda pose a growing threat to Nigeria’s security architecture and public trust. Delivering a keynote address at a media workshop organized by the Directorate of Army Public Relations (DAPR) for Army public relations officers, media practitioners, and communication personnel from other security agencies, Dachungyang said modern security operations now unfold on two battlefields: the physical environment and the digital information space. He noted that the widespread use of smartphones and social media means information about security incidents often reaches millions before authorities verify the facts, complicating joint operations involving multiple agencies.
