An Akure Magistrate's Court in Ondo State has sentenced 26-year-old Samuel Douglass to 12 months imprisonment for stealing four baskets of fresh tomatoes valued at N140,000. He was arraigned by the police on a one-count charge of stealing before Magistrate Olusola Olujobi. The prosecutor, Taiwo Oniyere, told the court that the complainant, Abimbola Akintomide, had entrusted the defendant with the tomatoes for delivery to a driver at Ilesa Garage, but Douglass allegedly sold them and converted the proceeds to personal use. The offence was said to have been committed in July 2026 at Fourth Gate, Afunbiowo Estate, Akure.
