The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has demanded an independent investigation into the deaths of 37 persons in NSCDC custody. NLC President Joe Ajaero made the call in a statement on Monday in Abuja, seeking accountability and justice. The victims were arrested during operations against suspected illegal mining in Niger on September 15 and 16, with deaths recorded on September 17. The Federal Government has constituted an independent committee to establish identities and circumstances surrounding the deaths.
