An air traffic control outage in New Jersey on Monday caused significant disruptions at airports across the Northeast. Newark Liberty International Airport was under a ground stop, and Philadelphia, JFK, and LaGuardia airports were also affected, with hundreds of flights delayed, diverted, or canceled. The outage occurred when an Amtrak construction crew accidentally cut a backup fiber line. Newark experienced the most impact, with about 500 flights affected.
