Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, carried out operations in Sokoto State on 20 September 2026. They responded to a terrorist attack on Sabon Gari in Wurno Local Government Area, engaging the attackers and forcing them to withdraw. During the operation, six kidnapped victims were rescued, and one civilian with a gunshot wound was evacuated for medical treatment. In a separate operation the same day, troops arrested four suspected members of the Lakurawa terrorist group and rescued a total of 23 kidnapped victims.
