Mexico has announced a ban on cell phones in elementary and secondary schools, effective in November. The rule prohibits phone use during class and recess, except for emergencies or planned school events. President Claudia Sheinbaum stated the goal is to recover creativity and avoid the negative effects of indiscriminate phone use, especially related to social media. The restriction does not apply to students in their last three years before college or university students. The decision followed consultations with educators and specialists, with 81% of surveyed teachers supporting the measure.
