The Nigerian Electricity Management Services Agency has inspected and certified the newly commissioned 3.3-megawatt solar hybrid power project at Yakubu Gowon University, formerly the University of Abuja. The certification followed inspection, testing and assessment of the facility to establish compliance with applicable technical standards, regulations and safety requirements before it was put into use. The project was commissioned by the Minister of Power, Joseph Tegbe, under the Federal Government's Energising Education Programme, implemented by the Rural Electrification Agency in collaboration with the World Bank and other stakeholders. NEMSA said the certification was consistent with its statutory responsibility to enforce technical standards and regulations.
