The United Kingdom has joined an initiative that calls on permanent members of the United Nations Security Council to refrain from using their veto power in situations involving mass atrocities, such as genocide. The initiative was first proposed by Mexico and France in 2015 and now has the support of 128 countries. The French foreign minister announced the UK's support on Monday.
