Residents of Obogoro Community in Yenagoa Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have been affected by coastal and gully erosion along the Ekoli River for almost a decade. Over 200 homes have been reportedly swallowed by the river, along with farmlands and public facilities such as a primary school, football field, NYSC lodge, and ancestral burial grounds. Recent heavy rainfall has worsened the situation, causing sections of the riverbank to collapse and forcing more families to flee. A tenant, Janet Eseoghene, described the community's cries for help.
