Manufacturers’ loan costs jump 53% as credit falls

Nigerian manufacturers experienced a 53% increase in average bank credit costs between 2020 and 2025. Interest rates reached 32.2%, according to the Manufacturers Association of Nigeria (MAN). The rise in loan costs occurred alongside a decline in credit availability. This development poses challenges for the manufacturing sector.
