Political violence, intimidation may mar 2027 elections, ADC warns

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has warned that persistent physical attacks on opposition members, escalating violence, and systematic political intimidation across the country could severely compromise the credibility of the 2027 general elections. At a press conference at the party's national headquarters in Abuja on Monday, ADC National Publicity Secretary Bolaji Abdullahi called on the Inspector-General of Police, Tunji Disu, to give a public account of ongoing investigations into reported acts of political violence nationwide. The party alleged that several acts of intimidation against opposition platforms by members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) followed a statement attributed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu that "all is fair in politics," and urged the President to either retract the remark or clarify its context. Abdullahi disclosed that the party has compiled a comprehensive dossier detailing incidents.
