Findings from interviews with bank customers in Lagos show growing interest in Treasury Bills, though limited knowledge of how the investment works remains a major barrier to wider participation. Treasury Bills are short-term debt securities issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria on behalf of the Federal Government to raise funds, with tenors of 91, 182 or 364 days. Some customers said they were familiar with and had invested in Treasury Bills, while others said they had little or no knowledge of the investment. Inadequate funds and competing financial priorities were also cited as reasons for not investing.
