Uko Nkole, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Abia North, has called on Abia State Governor Alex Otti and two National Assembly members to rehabilitate the abandoned Akanu Ohafia Water Scheme. The scheme, built in 1986 with a capacity of over 400,000 cubic metres, has been abandoned for 40 years. Nkole, who represented the constituency from 2011 to 2019, made the call in an interview with LEADERSHIP at his country home. He said the scheme was among the largest in the district.
