UNICEF Provides Nutrition Supplements To 40,000 Bauchi Children

UNICEF, with support from the United States government, has provided lipid-based nutrient supplements to over 40,000 children aged six to 23 months in Bauchi State to prevent malnutrition and improve child health. Philomena Irene, a UNICEF nutrition specialist, said the intervention is part of efforts to strengthen nutrition and maternal and child healthcare. Over 6,000 members of "Mama-to-Mama" and "Fathers for Good Health" groups have been trained to provide health education. More than 50 healthcare workers have also been trained on nutrition supplementation.
