Former Senate President Pius Anyim has stated that the All Progressives Congress (APC) should not be blamed for the Peoples Democratic Party's (PDP) failure to zone its presidential ticket to the South-East in previous election cycles. Speaking on Arise TV's Prime Time, Anyim said his political experience convinced him that no South-East presidential candidate could succeed by relying solely on support from the region. He added that if the PDP had zoned the ticket to the South-East, it would have stimulated sentiments to help defeat other candidates.
