The Centre for Information Technology and Development (CITAD) has called on the federal government to ensure that websites and digital platforms of ministries, departments, and agencies comply with accessibility standards for persons with disabilities (PWDs). The appeal was made at a stakeholders' validation meeting in Abuja, where CITAD reviewed findings from an assessment of about 150 government websites and portals. Hamza Aminu, coordinator of Persons with Disabilities at CITAD, said the assessment revealed challenges, including difficulties faced by visually impaired persons using screen readers due to incompatible content. He added that persons with albinism and those with low vision also encounter barriers.
