President Donald Trump is pursuing a deal to purchase potash from Belarus at lower prices than those paid to Canada, as part of ongoing trade tensions. However, the premier of Canada's largest potash-producing province warned that such shipments would need to transit through Russia. Belarus has indicated it has limited additional supply because this year's output is already contracted. Canada currently supplies the vast majority of US potash imports, a key fertilizer ingredient.
