Nigerian newspapers review: 22 firms on NGX face debt exposure of N21.3trn

A review of Nigerian newspapers highlights that 22 companies listed on the Nigerian Exchange Limited (NGX) are carrying a total debt of N21.3 trillion as of the second quarter of 2026. The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and civil servants under the Joint National Public Service Negotiating Council (JNPSNC) are demanding a new minimum wage of N500,000 and a reduction of petrol price to N500 per litre to address economic hardship. Additionally, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, stated he will never support Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma for President of the Senate in 2027, accusing him of using his position for personal political ambitions.
