During a special radio programme in Rivers State, organised in collaboration with the Aquamella X Deck of the National Association of Seadogs (Pyrates Confraternity), experts called on Nigerians to deepen civic participation beyond voting. The programme, themed 'Democracy, Civic Participation, and the Role of Citizens in Strengthening Democratic Processes: Lessons for Nigeria Ahead of 2027', brought together experts in election management, social accountability, and law. Innocent Ekwulo, a former electoral officer with 35 years of experience, emphasised that democracy should extend beyond periodic elections and that citizens must continuously engage in governance. The call aims to promote electoral accountability and sustainable national development ahead of the 2027 general election.
