The Yobe State Government has begun discussions with Russian investment company Legion Investment Moscow regarding a proposed gas-powered electricity plant. The plant is intended to provide reliable power for the state's Agro-Industrial Zone, supporting agro-processing, manufacturing, storage, cold-chain facilities, and other businesses. The announcement was made by Mamman Mohammed, Director-General of Press and Media Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni.
