Africa Must Build Its Own Solutions

The article argues that Africa must move from dependence to partnership, from consumption to creation, and from adaptation to ownership. It states that Africa does not lack ideas, talent, creativity, or the capacity to solve its own problems, but often lacks the willingness and commitment to build solutions designed around its own realities and to support those solutions. The author draws on experience building technology solutions in Nigeria and working with institutions that operate within local realities, emphasizing the importance of designing technology around the people, infrastructure, processes and economic realities it is intended to serve.
