The club confirmed on Tuesday that Valverde has been diagnosed with a grade 3 sprain in his left ankle. He is expected to be sidelined for several weeks and will miss Uruguay's upcoming friendlies against Japan, South Korea, and India. The injury occurred from a tackle by Atletico's Lee Kang-in, which Real Madrid insisted should have resulted in a red card.
