Leaders from Ilaje communities in Ondo State and Itsekiri communities in Delta State have criticized the Minister of Works, David Umahi, for rerouting the coastal road through inland areas. They argue that this decision contradicts President Bola Tinubu's vision and would be more expensive due to the swampy terrain and need for multiple bridges. The leaders are calling for the road to follow its original coastal route through communities such as Olosunmeta, Araromi, and Ode-Ugborodo. A statement was signed by Austin Oboroegbeyi, Dr Benson Enikuomehin, Amaechi Omagbitse, and Dr Adeolu Efotan.
