Hon. Francis E. Waive, member representing Ughelli North/Ughelli South/Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has responded to former Deputy Senate President Senator Ovie Omo-Agege over the controversy surrounding the proposed Federal Medical Centre, Ovwian Bill. In a statement issued by his Media Office, Waive said the existence of presidential approval for the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun, was not in dispute, but such approval could not disprove a private conversation between him and Omo-Agege. He said the issue concerned a conversation about the FMC Ovwian Bill after it passed first reading in the House of Representatives on July 21, 2020. According to Waive, Omo-Agege had asked that the FMC Bill be stepped down and allegedly worked to frustrate its passage on the grounds that it conflicted with his bill seeking the establishment of the Federal Polytechnic, Orogun.
