The Council of the European Union has agreed to increase support for the Djibouti Armed Forces under the European Peace Facility, raising the financial assistance from €10 million to €20 million. This decision reflects the strengthening of the EU-Djibouti partnership in security and defence and reinforces the EU's support for Djibouti's efforts to enhance maritime security in the region. The amendment to the Council Decision (CFSP) 2025/1554 aims to improve the operational readiness of the Djiboutian Navy, including the development and maintenance of assets for long-term operational capabilities. The move contributes to the EU's broader efforts to address the deteriorating security situation in and around the Red Sea and safeguard freedom of navigation.
